Obedience Training Class: AKC Canine Good Citizen Class (CGC)

We have a new and exciting group obedience training class to offer at Dogwood Ranch! Whether you want to have a well-mannered puppy/dog or if you are interested in bringing your dog to a convalescent home as a therapy dog, this class can accomplish both. We will be focusing on the test items for the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (AKC CGC) test. Passing the official AKC CGC test is a prerequisite to a Therapy Dog class! In this 10-week group obedience training class, we will work on sitting politely for petting, walking through a crowd, stay, and loose leash walking, among many other things!

The class will include 10 group obedience training sessions geared towards basic obedience and the AKC CGC test

*Canine Good Citizen (CGC) is a certification program developed by the American Kennel Club (AKC) that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community. This 6-week class will prepare human and canine students for the optional Canine Good Citizen test.

Agility Training/Fitness Class (Beginner)

Agility training reinforces obedience, physically tires out your dog, as well as mentally stimulates them through intense focus while your dog is having fun. Our agility class is meant to be fun and give dogs the ability to explore new experiences! It will focus on the overall confidence and health of our dogs. The class will begin teaching handlers and their dogs the skills to start agility work. Dogs will need to get into shape to do the agility obstacles safely.  The first couple of weeks will be teaching doggy fitness skills and then the equipment will be brought into the training sessions.

Additional Information for Training Classes

Our trainer for both of these classes will be Trinity Douglass. Trinity trains professionally full-time. She is an approved AKC CGC evaluator. We are so excited for you guys to work with her. She is amazing!

You can sign up for either of these classes through your PetExec account HERE. Once logged in, click "Request Group Training." In your PetExec profile, upon registering, it will show as "Request Class." Once you have requested the class in PetExec, if there is room in the class, we will add you and run the encrypted card on file for the full price of the class. Once you will get an email from PetExec that your card has been charged for the class, you are officially in!

The class must be prepaid before the start of the first class. We have limited spots! We do not have the ability to do makeup classes at this time. Even if you know you will have to miss a class, you are still welcome to sign up, but the class would still be charged full price. We will not be able to refund or discount the class for missed classes. Only 1 dog and 1 handler can register per spot in the class. If you have 2 dogs, you will need to register them for 2 spots. Requesting the group class on your profile will NOT officially secure your spot. Due to limited availability, we will only be able to accept the first 10 applicants for each of the class time slots. We will be keeping the registration form open to take waitlist applicants in case of any cancellations.  You will be emailed a receipt of the processed invoice for the class once you are officially in.
